HOPE Africa is the social development organization of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa (ACSA). H.O.P.E. stands for Health, Opportunity, Partnerships, Empowerment. Born as a diocesan organization, it was adopted under Archbishop Emeritus Njongokulu Ndungane as the provincial social development organization.
Its mandate is "to promote and implement a social development programme for the Anglican Church in Southern Africa for the improvement of the Spiritual, Physical, and Emotional wellbeing of the poor and oppressed of Africa on a non-denominational basis."
Its vision is "empowering communities through integral mission," focusing on four strategic areas: community sustainability, socio-economic justice, food security, and public policy & advocacy.
By acting at a provincial level and through engagement with and support of the dioceses, HOPE Africa is able to have an enormous impact achieving sustainable, community-led solutions.
